Go-Ahead sees passenger numbers surge as restrictions ease

Transport group Go-Ahead has seen passenger numbers rise to their highest level since the start of the pandemic as lockdown restrictions ease. The bus and rail operator said its regional bus services are now carrying around 65 per cent to 70 per cent of pre-crisis passenger levels, peaking at over 80 per cent in certain areas. It said pent-up demand was driving the recovery, as people return to hospitality and high-street venues amid the easing of restrictions.  On the up: Transport group Go-Ahead has seen passenger numbers rise to their highest level since the start of the pandemic Shares in Newcastle upon Tyne-based Go-Ahead are currently up 1.51 per cent or 18p to 1,209p. A year ago the group s share price was 1,100p.
